FBI Raids Pete Buttigieg’s Housing Authority

Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign is about to get hit with more scandalous claims related to his ability to run South Bend, Indiana.

Early Thursday morning, South Bend Housing Authority offices were raided by the FBI, as were several homes related to the investigation.

Possible Housing Authority Corruption

Local reporters believe the raids were connected to possible misappropriation of funds related to a cleaning service employed by the Housing Authority.

In all, the FBI hit three properties during the raid.

The first was the Housing Authority main offices on Alonzo Watson Drive.

The agency also raided two homes connected to the Housing Authority.

One on the 1900 block of Thornhill Drive and another on the 3600 block of Woldhaven Drive.

According to a local report, the home on Thornhill Drive is owned by Archie Robinson, the man who reportedly had contracts awarded through the South Bend Housing Authority (SBHA).

The second home is owned by a man that is a subcontractor for Mr. Robinson.

SBHA Director Tonya Robinson stated she has no idea what the raids are about.

While she and Mr. Robinson share a last name, it is not clear at this point if they are related in any way.

Not My Department

Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s office was contacted by the local media for a response, but his office more or less claimed they have nothing to do with this, but they are monitoring the situation.

The official statement from the Mayor’s office read:

Earlier today the Mayor’s Office became aware through local media reports of today’s law enforcement action at the Housing Authority. While the Housing Authority is not part of the City administration, the Mayor is concerned and will be closely following the situation.

The Mayor is in touch with the Board of Commissioners and has asked that they keep him informed on what they learn from federal officials. In the meantime, he has offered the City’s assistance to help ensure residents are not negatively impacted by this situation. He has been advised that normal operations will continue.

Inquiries concerning Housing Authority matters, including this case, should be directed to the Board of Commissioners.

Regardless if Buttigieg is directly responsible for the SBHA or not, the optics on this are not good.

He is still fielding questions about a recent police shooting that only heightened the focus on the fact he has failed miserably at diversifying his police force.

So once again, we ask, if Mayor Pete cannot get a handle on a small city like South Bend, how is he supposed to run an entire country?
