Former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) offered a very critical review of the Dems during the Mueller hearings recently held on the Hill.
Rather than doing their own dirty work, Gowdy stated Dems were hoping that Mueller could “issue this roadmap that could lead them to impeachment.”
Unmitigated Train Wreck
As we all know now, the Mueller hearings were an absolute disaster for the Democrat party.
Sure, they have all put a nice face on for the cameras, but nobody could honestly come out of those hearings and believe their case for impeachment got better.
Gowdy stated, “Before Bob Mueller had uttered a single syllable of the report, 60 House Democrats moved to impeach him.
“What they wanted was Mueller to come in and do their job for them — to issue this roadmap that could lead them to impeachment.”
Mueller did not do that, though.
In fact, he did the complete opposite.
When the Democrats thought they had their “ah-ha” moment, Mueller ended up correcting himself and snatched away their glory.
Gowdy called the entire proceedings and “unmitigated train wreck.”
Going About It the Wrong Way
There were several legal shortcomings during the hearings and the investigation that Gowdy pointed out.
Addressing the first issue, Gowdy stated, “In the criminal justice realm, you are cloaked with the presumption of innocence… unless and until the United States government proves each essential element of an offense beyond a reasonable doubt.”
“You can’t do it, which is why we don’t make people do it in court.”
“They’re having a hard time getting their standard right.”
A second point made by Gowdy was the fact the term “exoneration” kept getting thrown around by Democrats.
The fact is a prosecutor of any kind is not capable of exonerating anyone.
You make your case, then you either recommend indictment or you don’t… it’s that simple.
The fact that Mueller could not make a recommendation to indict due to lack of evidence should have dismissed the allegations of obstruction, but that is not the tack he or the Democrats chose to take.
The entire proceedings wreaked of misdoings, corruption, and bending laws to suit the Democrat narrative.
In essence, they all got caught with their pants down and now they have to deal with the aftermath.
Hopefully, as the numerous Justice Department investigations wind down into the origins of this witch hunt, We the People will finally get the answers we have been longing for and those that were responsible for this witch hunt will be brought to justice.
