2010 ICYMI: Chris Cuomo Calls Himself ‘Fredo’

CNN’s Chris Cuomo recently lost his cool when a man approached him and called him Fredo.

Cuomo likened the verbal assault to being the “N” word for Italians.

Then, Cuomo is going to need to explain the fact that in 2010, he referred to himself as Fredo.

My Name is Chris Cuomo

The big dustup happened when a man approached Cuomo, obviously trying to catch him on video going off.

IMO, the man that did this was out of line, but I also believe Cuomo significantly overreacted to what was nothing more than a ribbing.

Now, I hate to break it to Cuomo, but him saying Fredo is an ethnic slur does not make it so.

As I stated yesterday, this is more akin to Cuomo being called weak or a wimp, but it hardly compares to the “N” word.

After the fact, Cuomo himself even acknowledged he probably went a bit too far in his reaction to everything.

But You Said It

What most outlets failed to report in all of this, though, is that Cuomo himself once referred to himself as Fredo during an interview…

This changes things rather dramatically considering his attitude during that interview and his reaction to what the man said to him on the other video.

Somehow, these days, everyone is offended.

If you are a conservative, as Cuomo clearly categorized these men, anything you say or do is deemed to be offensive, bigoted, and racist.

Again, the man that set him up was acting like a child, hoping to get a few retweets on his account.

As I have railed against people approaching conservative pundits and celebrities in public, I would do the same here.

There is a time and a place to challenge these individuals, but it surely is not when they have said nothing to you and they are with their family in a public venue.

Having said all that, it now appears that Cuomo’s outrage was just as orchestrated as the attack against him and only after it went so badly did he decide to walk it back.

Man up, Chris, he was just breaking your chops.
