Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has been at odds with Trump throughout the election.
He refused to admit there were problems with Georgia’s election process even as these challenges were playing out in real time.
Well, now he is he about to find out just how much a Trump endorsement means.
Trump vs. The GOP
It would be expected that Raffensperger, as the incumbent, will have the full backing of the Republican Party.
He will not, however, have the backing of Trump.
Trump is instead endorsing Jody Hice.
In endorsing Hice, Trump stated, “Jody has been a steadfast fighter for conservative Georgia values and is a staunch ally of the America First agenda.
“Unlike the current Georgia Secretary of State, Jody leads out front with integrity.
“I have 100% confidence in Jody to fight for Free, Fair, and Secure Elections in Georgia, in line with our beloved U.S. Constitution.
“Jody will stop the Fraud and get honesty into our Elections! Jody loves the people of Georgia, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement.”
This will be one of the battles where Trump is facing off against the GOP that we will all have to keep an eye on to see who wins.
While I would not expect Trump to win every battle, if he wins a majority of them, the GOP will have to rethink its strategy when it comes to both House, Senate, and presidential candidates come 2024.
My best guess is that Trump’s support is going to carry far more weight than the RNC, so it will make for a very interesting 2022 election and run-up to the 2024 election.
