Joe Biden had another big night on Super Tuesday II, but it was far from enough to shut Bernie Sanders out of this race.
Even so, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) is calling for the DNC to shut it down, close out the primary and cancel the debates, to hand Biden the outright victory.
Shameless Corruption
Personally, I could care less who wins the Democrat primary but that does not mean that I don’t want to see a fair race.
More than anything else, I want to see the corruption in D.C. ended, but Clyburn just did something that proves both the corruption of the party and the lack of respect the Democrat establishment has for Americans and their voice.
As America was waiting for the votes to come in, Clyburn predicted a big night for Biden and because of that, he believes the race should be called.
Clyburn stated, “I think when the night is over, Joe Biden will be the prohibitive favorite to win the Democratic nomination, and quite frankly, if the night ends the way it has begun, I think it is time for us to shut this primary down, it is time for us to cancel the rest of these debates.
“Because you don’t do anything but get yourself in trouble if you continue in this contest when it’s obvious that the numbers will not shake out for you.”
Right now, neither candidate is even at the halfway point to the nomination.
Biden only has a 151-delegate lead on Sanders, so how can anyone legitimately call for an end to this primary when half the country has yet to cast a vote?
Not only that, but many of the upcoming states are more in Sanders’ wheelhouse, so he still may have a chance at a comeback or at the very least, making this a brokered convention.
It’s About Protecting Joe
Make no mistake about it, the party wants to give Biden a rest and does not want to see him have to campaign hard going into the general election.
He has been falling apart on the trail as of late and they know the busier the schedule, the more likely Biden is to do something stupid that could cost him this election.
Notice Clyburn make the appeal after Joe Biden offered to take a man “outside” in Detroit, insinuating he was ready to fight the man for challenging him on the Second Amendment.
Honestly, if the DNC shuts down the primary before a nominee hits the threshold, they will just be proving the corruption of the system.
Until a candidate suspends or concedes or someone hits that threshold, the show must go on… period.
