Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is finding out the hard way being on the wrong side of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is not a good place to be.
After being hung out by Pelosi, AOC reached out to the Speaker to set up a meeting so they can finally hash out their differences between closed doors.
Shoe on the Other Foot
AOC hit the ground running after being elected to Congress.
She must have assumed that considering the fact she unseated a strong Democrat incumbent, the party was going to lie down for her.
While that did happen somewhat, her actions over the last month or two have created a much different situation for AOC.
Her policies were just far too left and she needed to be reined in.
Pelosi gave her a thorough lashing in a published interview, then ripped her again on Twitter.
The House Speaker tried to push her back into her original hat size, but even that didn’t seem to work.
AOC kept firing away until rumors started to fly around that the Democrat Party establishment was considering putting a candidate up against her during the primary race.
This is the same tactic AOC has been using against Democrat incumbents that are not voting for her policies or other policies and/or legislation AOC supports.
No doubt starting to feel the squeeze, AOC extended the olive branch so the two women could chat and get back on the same page, or at least cool off the waters a little bit.
What About Leadership?
The fact Nancy Pelosi did not reach out before this tells you all you need to know about her leadership as well as what the party really thinks about AOC and The Squad.
A true leader would have quashed this online squabble right away rather than feeding into it.
Instead, Pelosi contributed just as much to it as AOC did.
Secondly, the fact there was no pressure from within the party for Pelosi to do so tells us that maybe the Democrat party is not so in love with AOC any longer.
While we fully expect the two to work it out this time and stop hammering each other publicly, you just know AOC is going to do or say something to cross Pelosi again.
And when that happens, well, all bets are going to be off.
