We are only days removed from Attorney General William Barr telling the entire country we need to have more respect for our police officers.
His message apparently fell on deaf ears, as news broke late Saturday night of an Arkansas police officer being executed in the back lot of a Fayetteville parking lot.
Shocking Discovery
Late Saturday night, officers inside the police station heard gunshots.
When they went outside, they found one of their own lying next to his car, gunned down in an apparent execution-style murder.
Fayetteville Police Chief Mike Reynolds stated, “It appears the suspect came into the back parking lot and just executed my officer.”
Officers immediately responded to the shooting and chased the suspect down to a nearby alley.
A shootout ensued and the suspect was taken out.
As of this writing, the name of both the officer and the suspect have been withheld.
More Shootings
Attorney General Barr states that there are about 60,000 attacks against police officers every year.
Sadly, Saturday night accounted for at least two of them, both fatal.
In addition to the Fayetteville officer, a police officer in Houston was also gunned down.
That officer was responding to a domestic violence call.
So far this year, 113 officers have been killed in the line of duty.
I cannot help but think the animosity the Democrat party has created towards these officers is at least partially responsible for the uptick in violence against our police officers.
