Ayatollah Khamenei Demands Stronger Response by Military

Everyone knew Iran was going to do something, and last night they struck.

In the early morning hours (local time), Iran sent more than a dozen ballistic missiles at an Iraqi base housing American soldiers.

When the dust settled, there were reportedly no American casualties, and that did not appear to make Iran’s Supreme Leader very happy.

Slap in the Face

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appears to want an all-out war with the United States.

The strike that happened last night was clearly a response to the strike that killed General Soleimani.

Even though there were more than a dozen missiles fired at the base, it appears that Iran conducted this strike to specifically save face and nothing more.

The area where the missiles struck was absent of U.S. forces.

Khamenei called the missile strikes “a slap in the face.”

He further stated, “Military action like this is not sufficient.

“What is important is ending the corrupting presence of America in the region.”

Iran started spewing rhetoric on state TV after the strike, claiming “at least 80 terrorist U.S. soldiers” were killed.

They also claimed to have significant damage to drones and aircraft housed as the base.

U.S. Response

President Trump sent out a tweet after the initial assessments started to come in to the media.

Additionally, Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham stated, “We are aware of the reports of attacks on U.S. facilities in Iraq. The president has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team.”

The Pentagon also released a statement:

“In recent days and in response to Iranian threats and actions, the Department of Defense has taken all appropriate measures to safeguard our personnel and partners. These bases have been on high alert due to indications that the Iranian regime planned to attack our forces and interests in the region. As we evaluate the situation and our response, we will take all necessary measures to protect and defend U.S. personnel, partners, and allies in the region.”

While Democrats continue to rail against Trump, the President has remained extremely calm with his response.

He will be addressing the nation shortly to provide more information about the path forward, but he clearly is showing restraint and hoping Iran comes to the table rather than start another war in the Middle East.
