Baltimore’s Democrat Mayor: ‘You can smell the rats’

Donald Trump’s characterization about some Baltimore neighborhoods is looking less and less controversial every day.

A 2018 news story with former Baltimore Democrat Mayor Catherine Pugh has surfaced, showing her disgust and outrage over the dilapidated conditions of a neighborhood in her city.

Open Disgust

How cities in this country can get to this condition is baffling, disappointing, and disgusting all at the same time.

I grew up in an inner-city (NOT Baltimore) and while the neighborhood was poor, it was also proud.

Neighbors looked out for each other, we cleaned our streets, and we kept the neighborhood looking just as good as any other neighborhood in the city.

Today, many of these same neighborhoods are run down because neither the city nor the residents care.

When Pugh toured one such neighborhood in Baltimore, she was clearly disgusted.

Pugh stated, “What the hell?

“We should just take all this s**t down.

“Woah, you can smell the rats.

“Whew, Jesus.”

While looking at another neighborhood, known to be one of the most dangerous in the entire city, she stated, “Oh my God, you can smell the dead animals.”

The Wire Comes to Life

For fans of the HBO show, “The Wire,” this inside look at Baltimore was nothing new.

It was as though the TV show was brought to real life.

The drug-infested neighborhoods on the show were the very ones Pugh was touring and commenting on.

Trump characterized these neighborhoods as “crime-infested” and “rodent-infested,” which set off a round of outrage from liberals.

However, as Pugh’s own words describe, that is exactly what these neighborhoods are facing.

As I have stated several times already… it’s not racism, folks, it’s just brutal honesty.

The outrage should not be with Trump but rather with the public representatives of this city that are clearly failing their constituents.
