Barr Orders Reinstatement of Federal Death Penalty

Democrats are already reeling from the Mueller debacle on the Hill yesterday.

Now, Barr has sent them into a complete tizzy by ordering the reinstatement of the federal death penalty.

Rule of Law

Over the last decade, we have seen more and more of a trend towards easing up on even the most vile of criminals.

Trump recently signed legislation that while had good intention, ended up backfiring on him on this front.

The First Step Act was meant to give non-violent criminals a new lease on life.

However, recent reports stated that some violent criminals ended up in the mix and are now once again walking our streets.

We also have politicians running on platforms of NOT prosecuting certain crimes.

For instance, the DA in Dallas has made petty theft legal by not prosecuting non-violent thefts of under $750.

This, of course, has led to more violent crimes because citizens, especially in Texas, are not going to allow their property to be stolen without fighting for it.

Joe Biden recently stated that he wants to get the point that no drug offenses are prosecuted unless they are a major dealer.

Some cities are even paying criminals not to commit crimes rather than locking them up and providing a deterrent for breaking the law.

This measure by Barr is hopefully the first of many that will once again bring the rule of law back to the forefront.

Death Row is Back

In the wake of his announcement, Barr has already ordered the execution of five death row inmates.

According to reports, Barr has penciled in their executions to take place between December 2019 and January 2020.

Barr stated, “Congress has expressly authorized the death penalty through legislation adopted by the people’s representatives in both houses of Congress and signed by the President.

“The Justice Department upholds the rule of law — and we owe it to the victims and their families to carry forward the sentence imposed by our justice system.”

The last federal execution was held in 2003.

There are currently 62 inmates on federal death row.

Among the first to be scheduled for execution is white supremacist Daniel Lewis Lee.

Lee killed a family of three, which included an 8-year-old little girl.

The executions will be carried out in Pence’s home state in Terry Haute, Indiana.
