If you had a bet that Joe Biden would eventually cave to the far left to try to win this race, you just won your bet.
This week, Biden announced that none other than freshman congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez has joined his task force as a co-chair for climate change policy.
Green New Deal is Back
It was not so long ago that members of the Democrat party were boldly laughing at Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.
Today, we have a presidential candidate that is supposed to be a moderate who is not only making the legislation part of his campaign but he is also adding the woman who crafted it as a co-chair to his task force on climate change.
This is clearly a ploy by Biden to lure the far-left members of the party to his camp, but it also happens to reek of desperation on his part.
From Day One, Biden has tried to pitch himself as a moderate liberal but this move solidifies the fact his soul is up for grabs and he will do anything and everything he can for a vote.
Biden knows he needs Bernie Sanders’ supporters, of whom AOC is one, to win this election, but at what cost?
Too Far Left, Joe
Believe it or not, there are plenty of blue-collar Democrats that want nothing to do with an aggressive climate change policy.
At the heart of many blue states are workers that make their paychecks in the energy sector, so a massive overhaul of the fossil fuel industry is not going to play well with that crowd.
Joe Biden may land some of the younger generation of voters but at the same time, he is probably going to alienate a considerable portion of the older and more reasonable crowd that realizes AOC’s proposal belongs in the fiction section of a local bookstore.
After the appointment was made public, AOC’s camp issued a statement: “She believes the movement will only be successful if we continue to apply pressure both inside and outside the system.
“This is just one element of the broader fight for just policies.”
To this point, AOC has more or less managed to dodge the Reade allegations made against Biden but now as a member of his team, you better believe she is going to have to make a definitive statement on this one way or another.
If she takes Biden’s side without a full investigation into Reade’s claims, she will be another arrow poking a hole in the #MeToo movement, proving it was nothing more than a staged political attack that was merely convenient at the time.
