Booker Calls Trump ‘Weak’ After Trump Condemns ‘White Supremacy’

This was an opportunity for Democrats to actually promote unity and healing; instead, they went on the attack.

President Trump just made remarks condemning white supremacy and calling for gun and mental illness reform… and he was immediately attacked by Democrats.

Trump’s Remarks

In a solemn address, President Trump expressed outrage and condolences, as well as seeking reform to lessen the likelihood of events such as these mass shootings from happening in the future.

Trump stated, “Our nation is overcome with shock, horror and sorrow.

“We are outraged and sickened by this monstrous evil.”

“In one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy.

“These sinister ideologies must be defeated. Hatred has no place in America.”

Later in his address, Trump addressed the issue of mental illness, stating, “Mental illness and hatred pulls the trigger, not the gun.”

Trump also called for better monitoring to spot warning signs from these killers.

He stated, “We must do a better job at identifying and acting on early warning signs.

“I am directing the Department of Justice to work in partnership with local, state, and federal agencies and social media companies to develop tools to identify mass shooters before they strike.

“We must stop the glorification of violence in our society.

“This includes the gruesome and grisly video games that are now commonplace…It is too easy for troubled youth to surround themselves with a culture that celebrates violence.

“We must stop or substantially reduce this and it has to begin immediately. ”

Within minutes of the President finishing his address, Cory Booker took a shot at him on Twitter.

Booker had a real opportunity to get together with Trump and Republicans to seriously address this issue, but instead, he is choosing to insult and attack.

Looking to Find Fault

During Trump’s speech, he misspoke and said Toledo instead of Dayton.

Of course, this was not something any Democrat could let slide, and Trump was blasted for it all over social media.

However, Joe Biden misspoke twice over the weekend, using Houston for El Paso and Michigan for Dayton, but there was nary a peep from Democrats on his errors.

Both parties have a real opportunity to come together and make a true difference right now, but Democrats just refuse to find any middle ground with this president.

It truly is a sad time in this country, and for far more reasons than this brutal, senseless, and unnecessary violence.
