CNN’s Jim Acosta Getting Ripped for ‘Mansplaining’ to Dr. Birx

At every step of this crisis, Jim Acosta has done his best to be confrontational, promote fear, and get just about anyone he can on the coronavirus task force with a “gotcha” question.

He has sunk pretty low in the past, but Friday’s press conference was a new low, interrupting Dr. Birx in the middle of making a point about the W.H.O. to try to embarrass Trump.

It’s All About the Tone

When I was growing up, I was constantly in trouble with my mother for how I said things.

She would repeatedly tell me, “It’s not what you are saying, it’s how you say it.”

If my mother were in the same room as Jim Acosta, I have a feeling he would be getting a backhand right across the face.

Acosta, at times, has asked some good questions, but his tone and demeanor when asking them are so insulting, it is no wonder Donald Trump looks like he wants to punch Acosta in the face every time he opens his mouth.

Friday was no different.

Mansplaining

Dr. Birx was trying to explain the timeline of “who knew what when” during the exchange.

She stated, “We can talk about why didn’t Italy do something or Spain do something or Germany do something, or we can really say right now — we all can do something.

“We can do the social distancing and all of the pieces that we know is starting to work around the globe in country after country.

“And then when we get through all of this, we can ask the questions about could we have done some piece of this better as a global community.”

She then stated, “I will remind you that on February 3rd, the head of the WHO said there was no reason to ever do a travel ban.

“It wasn’t until January 14th that we knew that there was the human-to-human transmission,” which is when Acosta cut in…

Acosta’s tone was clear, as if he was saying that the moment Trump said this would “go away,” it should have happened overnight.

The outrage over Acosta’s interruption was immediate.

One of the first to react was Jonathan Turley, one of the constitutional experts who testified during the impeachment trial…

Elizabeth Harrington, a spokesperson for the GOP, also chimed in…

Acosta likes to pretend he is some type of warrior on the front lines, the only one that will truly stand up to Trump, but even his fellow press corps members are growing tired of his antics.

Jonathan Karl, an ABC News correspondent, recently wrote in his book that Acosta plays “into the explicit Trump strategy of portraying the press as the opposition party.”

CNN refuses to come down on him or even hint that he should tone it down a bit.

All the while, the network’s ratings continue to plummet and Acosta becomes Public Enemy #1 for many Americans.
