Colorado School-Shooting Students Shun Democrats at Vigil

Democrats cannot help themselves from turning these mass shootings into a political opportunity, but this time it completely failed.

When Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) and Senator Bennet (D-CO) spoke at the vigil, numerous students walked out of the event, only to return later and demand their tragedy not be used to promote gun control legislation.

The Vigil

By now, everyone knows the details of the horrific shooting at the Denver school.

Were it not for the brave efforts of one student that give his life and several other students, this shooting surely would have had more dire results.

The vigil on Wednesday night was supposed to be in remembrance of Kendrick Castillo, the student that initiated the attack against the shooter and was killed during the struggle.

Roughly 2,000 people were in attendance when the politicians took the stage and started to spew gun control rhetoric.

The response from students was obviously not what they thought they would get….

After leaving what is now being described as a gun control rally, the students walked outside in the rain to hold their own vigil for Castillo…

The “vigil” was organized by The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

After the students were obviously upset about the agenda in place, the organization issues a formal apology:

“We are deeply sorry any part of this vigil did not provide the support, caring and sense of community we sought to foster and facilitate and which we know is so crucial to communities who suffer the trauma of gun violence.”

Stop Politicizing Tragedy

Sadly, both sides of the aisle are guilty of politicizing horrific tragedies in this country to push their own agendas.

What they should really be doing is getting to the root of the problem rather than blaming a weapon or trying to take away constitutional rights from Americans.

Why are these children getting to a point where they feel their only response is the taking of innocent lives?

These are terrorist-like actions that must be thoroughly investigated to see how these kids got to this tragic point.

Is society itself to blame for coddling this generation in ways that are unprecedented?

We give out trophies for just showing up.

Far too many children spend their days and nights playing video games or are buried in social media with every available second.

We have put more emphasis on “likes” and “retweets” that we do on dealing with real-life scenarios.

Today’s children today have no social skills whatsoever because they are shielded from real-world repercussion by the need to “protect” them from experiencing failure and difficulty as they are growing up.

Then, when faced with difficult times or people that don’t like them, this is how they react.

We need to understand how we got here and fix it, not take the opportunity to preach about gun control.

It is a sad day in this country when hundreds of children who have just faced death and what will probably be the most traumatic experience of their lives have more common sense than the adults in the room.
