While Democrats like to pretend the influx of illegal immigrants is of no danger to citizens of this country, they completely fail to mention the medical challenges of so many undocumented immigrants coming in at the same time.
In the latest batch of apprehended illegals, more than 5,000 of them have been placed in quarantine for mumps and chicken pox outbreaks by ICE officials.
The Danger is REAL
This is not a problem in one or two areas, either.
In all, there are 39 immigration centers involved in the quarantine.
Not all of the 5,000 illegals have been diagnosed with these conditions, but they have all reportedly been exposed to them.
Nathalie Asher, the Executive Associate Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) stated, “From an operational perspective, the impact is significant in the short and long term and will result in an increase in cohorted detainees’ length of stay in detention, an inability to effect removal of eligible cohorted detainees, and postponing scheduled consular interviews for quarantined detainees.”
Of the 5,000 cases, 4,276 are quarantined for mumps, 825 for chicken pox, and 99 for both.
Keep in mind, this number of individuals being quarantined continues to rise, as there were more than 2,000 announced quarantines back in March.
The scary thing is that we have no idea how many illegals that have been exposed slipped through the cracks and are already walking the streets of our country, possibly infecting people.
Increased Interest
Needless to say, this situation is of interest to virtually everyone in the country.
For conservatives, we want to ensure these illegals are not only held accountable for entering the country illegally but also that they do not put our citizens in danger.
Liberals are hoping there is no major outbreak so they can continue to justify keeping our borders open and allowing this influx of illegals to overrun our country.
Had these individuals not been flagged or apprehended, we can only imagine how bad things could have gotten at our border states as well as states where illegals are being detained, then released.
Asher stated, “I think there is heightened interest in this situation because it’s the mumps, which is a new occurrence in custody, but preventing the spread of communicable diseases in ICE custody is something we have demonstrated success doing.”
That, of course, is not how Democrats look at it.
Every time an illegal is announced to be sick or pass away in custody, Democrats blame it on ICE rather than looking at the real cause, which is the fact many of these people have never had proper medical care and we have no idea what their health problems are when they arrive at the border.
Is it really a coincidence we have seen recent outbreaks around the country with the massive influx at the border?
The Trump administration has maintained from Day One the border crisis is about far more than just blocking immigrants, and this latest quarantine justifies the caution being used by the administration.
To this point, Democrats have been mum on the subject.
If any of the moderators in the first debate are worth their salt, they will hammer the candidates on this concern to see how they recommend addressing the problem.
