Just when you think Democrats have hit an all-time low, they dig a little deeper and say something just a bit more shocking.
Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-IL) another member of the New Breed, accused ICE and our Border Patrol of purposely allowing illegal immigrants to die in their custody.
Reprehensible Statement
On Wednesday, Rep. Underwood, who sits on the House Homeland Security Committee, stated, “At this point, with five kids that have died, 5,000 separated from their families, I feel like, and the evidence is really clear, this is intentional.
“It’s a policy choice being made on purpose by this administration, and it’s cruel and inhumane.”
Underwood was commenting on the recent death of a young immigrant, which resulted in the closing of a detention center and a significant group of children being quarantined.
Her comments were considered to be so horrific, even the committee voted to have them removed from the record.
While the comments are not only loathsome, she is 100 percent inaccurate with what she said.
The Real Problem
Tom Homan, the former acting Director of ICE, called her comment’s “disgusting.”
He also was quick to point out a fair amount of the children coming across are in medical distress, some obviously with life-threatening conditions, when they arrive.
The children and sometimes even parents are not always forthcoming with information about their health problems, making this an even trickier situation.
Homan pointed out the fact the Border Patrol saved more than 4,000 people last year that were “in medical distress when they found them.”
He further stated, “So she and her party leaders look in the mirror because of their intentional actions they opened the groundswell and [unaccompanied alien children] are at an all-time high like I said they would be.
“It was their actions that caused UAC’s to come to begin.”
That is the fact and it is something I have said here on numerous occasions.
By not holding illegals accountable, Democrats are encouraging and promoting this behavior.
The result of which has been massive increases in illegal immigration, overwhelming our border stations.
That child did not die because of the Border Patrol. That child died because the parents were not properly caring for the child and the child was sick upon arrival.
If Underwood wants to make a change, she needs to tell her fellow Democrats to come to the table and work with Republicans for real immigration reform.
It is absolutely despicable that this woman would even insinuate, much less outright accuse, our Border Patrol agents, who have an impossible situation right now, of purposely allowing children to die.
