Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was trying to trim some of the fat off the COVID relief bill.
Quite frankly, it was something that never should have been there in the first place.
Democrats, however, did not agree, so Cruz’s amendment to block stimulus payment for illegal immigrants will not be added to the bill.
Pay Everyone
In order to benefit from government handouts, we would think that individuals would at the very least need to be legal residents or citizens of the country.
Democrats believe otherwise, and the bill that just passed through the Senate will allow illegal immigrants to enjoy some of the same benefits as American citizens, including getting healthcare subsidies.
After his amendment failed to pass the Senate, Cruz went ballistic.
The Texas Senator stated, “Not only does this COVID bill fail to address the real needs of the American people who are suffering, but it hands out billions in taxpayer dollars to illegal immigrants.”
Had this amendment been added, it would have saved taxpayers about $8 billion according to Cruz’s office.
Cruz continued, “Congress should come together to pass my amendment to stop this.
“We need to stand for the American people, get our kids back to school, and reopen our small businesses.”
Cruz should know by now, the last thing Joe Biden and Democrats stand for these days are American citizens.
