Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein may not see eye-to-eye with Trump and may be on his way out the door, but that did not stop him from calling out Democrats over their criticism of Attorney General William Barr.
Rosenstein stated, “He’s being as forthcoming as he can, and so this notion that he’s trying to mislead people, I think is just completely bizarre.”
Democrat Outrage
Democrats have been going after Barr literally from the first second it became known the Mueller had released the Russian collusion report to him.
There was an immediate call for a full, unredacted report as well as all supporting documents.
The problem, though, is Congress is actually not entitled to the full gamut of materials they requested, and they know this.
Some of the documentation, such as grand jury testimony, is protected by law.
Other parts of the report will have information that must be protected for national security reasons.
Finally, Someone Telling the Truth
There have been several Republicans that have come forward to try to take some of the heat off Barr.
However, liberal media outlets have buried the stories and Democrats continue to cry foul.
Now, with someone from the Justice Department coming forward, especially someone Trump has been critical of in the past, to stick up for Barr, it should carry a bit more weight.
Rosenstein will also be far more difficult for liberal media outlets to dismiss.
While addressing this during a recent interview, Rosenstein stated, “It would be one thing if you put out a letter and said, ‘I’m not going to give you the report.’
“What he said is, ‘Look, it’s going to take a while to process the report.
“’In the meantime, people really want to know what’s in it.
“’I’m going to give you the top-line conclusion.’
“That’s all he was trying to do.”
While Rosenstein would not make a formal comment about the progress of the processing of the report, he did say the public should have “tremendous confidence” in William Barr.
Of course, that is completely different from what some of our elected representatives are saying, as they continue to portray Barr as nothing more than a Trump lackey and someone that will go to any length to protect President Trump.
