The fallout from Pelosi’s planned stunt of ripping up the State of the Union address is in full swing, with former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich leading the charge.
Having sat in that seat himself, Gingrich was furious at how Pelosi conducted herself, calling her behavior both “petty” and “childish.”
Initially, most believed the tearing up of the SOTU speech was just something that House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) did out of frustration.
As it turns out, she decided to do this very early on.
New photos have emerged of Pelosi having partially torn the speech papers long before she ever stood up and ripped them for all to see.
Gingrich was furious over her behavior, stating, “And, she just proved…how divided the state of the union is…by the kind of petty, childish behavior that she personally exhibited.
“It displayed to the entire country how vicious and petty the Democrats have become.”
Gingrich is not the only one to throw some big shots at Pelosi, but some Republicans are taking this a step further.
Rep. Gaetz (R-FL) announced he is going to file an ethics complaint against Pelosi, even stating she may have violated federal law for destroying official documents.
He stated, “[Pelosi] disgraced the House of Representatives, she embarrassed our country and she destroyed official records.
“The law does not allow the Speaker of the House to destroy the records of the House and the rules of the House do not permit some little temper tantrum just because you don’t like what the president of the United States says.”
He then added, “The Democrats really brought the heat down on him.
“By the way, Joe Wilson was right.
“We ought to apply the same standards to the Democrats that they want to apply to us and there will be an ethics investigation to Nancy Pelosi and we will start the ball rolling to have her censured.”
As I stated after this incident happened, Pelosi not only hurt her own reputation, but she has really hurt her party overall and more than likely cost them any chance they had of keeping the House in 2020.
