The president that started the far-left swing by the Democrat party is now warning the party they may be taking things too far.
Obama stated, “One of the things I do worry about sometimes among progressives … we start sometimes creating what’s called a ‘circular firing squad’ where you start shooting at your allies because one of them has strayed from purity on the issues.”
Barack Obama has been more critical of his own party over the last month or so than at any time in his career.
The sad thing, though, is that his presidency opened the door for the dramatic swing the party has made over the last decade.
It started with his apology tour, then there was Obamacare, then we started to see a significant shift during the 2016 presidential election to more socialist values.
Now, though, things have gotten considerably worse.
With newly elected representatives clearly taking that swing to a whole new level, the Democrat party is as far left as it has ever been.
To that point, Obama stated, “The way we structure democracy requires to you to take into account people who don’t agree with you.
“And that, by definition, means you’re not going to get 100 percent of what you want.”
Are You Listening?
It is not often you will find me agreeing with any Democrat, but Obama’s words should be heeded here.
The problem we are seeing is not just in the new blood of the party, but it is quickly saturating leadership and presidential candidates.
When Ocasio-Cortez threatened Democrats in the House with being put on a list if they did not vote the party line regardless of how the issue would impact their constituents, leadership in the party did not rein her in.
In fact, people like Nancy Pelosi echoed those very sentiments.
We have also seen virtually every presidential candidate throw out a socialist-driven platform, alienating moderate Democrats and independent voters.
This has also become a problem in the Senate, where Senator Schumer (D-NY) has repeatedly put an “our way or no way” tag on legislation.
He is not willing to bargain with Republicans at all.
You either give us this, period, or we don’t move forward.
For all the criticism Trump has taken, he has been willing to alienate some hard-core conservatives by putting chips on the table for the overall good of the country.
An example of this is Trump offering protection for DACA recipients and their family members to get border wall construction financing.
Am I supportive of giving them amnesty? No, but if it stops the problem here and now so we can move forward, so be it.
Accepting a couple of million immigrants is far better than what Democrats are presenting.
Again, I do not like it, but I can live with it simply because I believe we are getting something out of it that will help and protect both this country and its citizens moving forward.
Democrat presidential candidates would be well-served to listen to Obama on this one, but for our sake, I hope they don’t.
Say what you want about President Trump, but there is simply no denying the fact the man has clearly moved this country forward and I for one, would like to keep it moving forward.
If this current class of Democrat is allowed to take over the White House, all the work our Founders and Framers did will be for naught.
