Trump was recently appealed to by Kayne West to help out rapper A$AP Rocky, who got himself into some legal problems in Sweden.
A$AP Rocky is being held without bail on assault charges, so Trump told West he would do what he could to help him.
According to presidential candidate and California Democrat Senator Kamala Harris, that is an abuse of presidential power by Trump.
Can’t Win for Losing
To be clear, I am not one for people using their high-profile contacts to grease the ways for someone, especially if there is wrongdoing.
Having said that, this is a case of an American citizen being held abroad.
Regardless of what anyone thinks, this is a case of interest and not just because of the nature of the individuals or the contacts.
Typically, our State Department would handle this case and that is more than likely how it all went down.
After the case was brought to his attention, Trump more than likely picked up the phone to State and asked them to look into it.
If there was a wrong being committed, rectify it, period.
If anyone, including Harris, is naïve enough to believe this has not been going on for decades, or even centuries, they would be sorely mistaken.
Regardless, after Trump agreed to do what he could, Harris stated, “There’s no question that this White House is, has been playing politics with his role of leadership, and it has to end.”
Her response is ludicrous and we all know it.
If she or anyone else were in the White House and the same plea were made, it would have more than likely gone down the same way.
Let’s Play Devil’s Advocate
Let’s assume everything about this case remains the same except Trump does nothing.
How long would it have taken for the calls or racism to arrive against him?
How long before someone said, “If it was a white entertainer, you just know Trump would have bent over backward to help him out”?
Trump was truly in a no-win situation, but this is still nothing more than a desperate attempt by Harris to make Trump look like the bad guy.
