Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y), who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, has decided to go after Trump’s associates since he has been unable to take out Trump.
Earlier today, Nadler’s committee announced it is about to release a slew of subpoenas targeting past and present Trump associates unless they get the information they want voluntarily from these individuals.
Among the names rumored to be on the list are Jared Kushner, Jeff Sessions, and Rod Rosenstein.
Still Pursuing Obstruction
According to Nadler, the reason for the subpoenas is to help the committee’s investigation into obstruction of Justice.
Nadler stated the committee is now moving forward with “efforts to request information from critical witnesses as part of our ongoing investigation into obstruction, corruption, and abuse of power by the President and his associates.”
The move was highly criticized by House Republicans.
Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) stated, “Today’s latest effort to relitigate the special counsel’s investigation remains unimpressive and unproductive.
“Mr. Mueller’s team issued more than 2,800 subpoenas before concluding that no Americans conspired with Russia.
“Even if Chairman Nadler still believes subpoenas are conversation starters, it’s hard to imagine this handful of subpoenas will do anything but reinforce the principal conclusions we’ve been able to read about for months.”
In addition to the names above, some of the other members believed to be subpoenaed by the House Judiciary Committee are:
Former White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn
Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Rick Dearborn
Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly
Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski
Former White House aide Rob Porter
Publisher of the National Enquirer David Pecker and chief content officer Dylan Howard
Former Stormy Daniels lawyer Keith Davidson
Assistant attorney general for the criminal division Joseph “Jody” Hunt
Nadler stated if these individuals come forward on their own, he will forego formally issuing the subpoenas against them.
Clearly, a few names on that list may have an ax to grind against Trump, so this could get very interesting, very quickly if someone decides to embellish the facts a bit to get back at Trump.
Of particular interest on that list is Jeff Sessions, who Trump has continued to insult and rail against well after leaving office.
