House Republicans Revolt Against Schiff

House Republicans have finally had about all they can take from Democrats.

Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee boycotted a meeting on Wednesday to both show their unity and protest the constant political attacks being carried out by Democrats in the House.

No Shows

The meeting boycotted was for a House Intelligence Subcommittee on Strategic Technologies and Advance Research (STAR).

The topic was “Emerging Technologies and National Security.”

Not a single Republican showed up for the hearing and every one of them called it nothing more than a “publicity” stunt.

The two ranking members for Republicans, Reps. Nunes (R-CA) and Stewart (R-UT) penned a letter to Schiff to show their discontent.

It stated, “Under your chairmanship, the House Intelligence Committee has strayed far from its mandate of overseeing the Intelligence Community.

“In fact, we have gone months at a time in which we’ve hardly held any oversight-related briefings or hearings at all.

“During this period of inadequate oversight, numerous critical issues pertinent to this Committee’s jurisdiction were ignored.”

The letter went on to say, “The IG Report was followed by the release of a declassified assessment by the Department of Justice acknowledging that at least two of the four FISA applications lacked probable cause.

“Despite the seriousness of these issues and our clear jurisdiction, you have failed to hold a single briefing or hearing on this matter.

“Until the Committee prioritizes oversight activities related to urgent and critical concerns, Republican Members cannot support distractions from our core responsibilities.

“We hope this Committee can move past political investigations and publicity stunts and get back to the important work we traditionally have undertaken on a bipartisan basis.”

More Investigations

While We the People appreciate the gesture by Rep. Nunes and company, it has also fallen on deaf ears.

Roughly at the same time all this was taking place, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) had announced he wanted to hold an investigation into Barr over his Stone sentencing recommendation.

Barr is now supposed to appear before Nadler’s committee in March, but many Republicans believe this is going to go much deeper than that.

Rep. Collins (R-GA) has already stated he believes Democrats will use this to try to launch yet another impeachment effort against Trump.

At some point, our government will get back to work for We the People, but that probably will not happen until after the 2020 elections and then ONLY if Republicans manage to win back the House.

Otherwise, this is the nonsense we are in for over the next five years.
