Joe Biden has been spinning quite the yarn on the stump, and the mainstream media finally called him out on it.
Biden has told a story many times of how he was arrested in South Africa when he was with a congressional delegation, only it never happened.
Stretching the Truth
During the 1970s, Biden went to South Africa to meet with Nelson Mandela.
He claims that he was arrested. Here is a snippet from a recent stump speech given by Biden in South Carolina:
“This day, 30 years ago, Nelson Mandela walked out of prison and entered into discussions about apartheid.
“I had the great honor of meeting him. I had the great honor of being arrested with our UN ambassador on the streets of Soweto trying to get to see him on Robben Island.”
The story came under scrutiny very quickly with a former ambassador that was on the trip, Andrew Young, stating, “No, I was never arrested and I don’t think he was, either.”
Biden’s office was soon forced to cover for Biden.
When Biden was asked about the little yarn he has been spinning, here was his response…
Joe Biden acknowledged that he wasn’t arrested in South Africa during a visit to the country in the 1970s despite recently claiming that he had been.

So, basically what happened, was Biden was delayed while they made arrangements for his party to travel together.
He was not arrested and he was not detained, he was delayed.
This is typical Biden… he says what he wants, then when he gets caught, he either calls you a liar or says “what I meant was…”
During the H1N1 virus outbreak in 2009-10, the same thing happened.
Joe Biden gave an interview about the virus and recommended not traveling (a policy he is now going directly against for the Trump administration and even calling Trump a xenophobe for saying it.).
At the time, per ABC News, Biden stated, “I would tell members of my family — and I have — I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now. It’s not that it’s going to Mexico in a confined aircraft where one person sneezes, that goes all the way through the aircraft.”
When the White House was asked about his comments, this was their response:
“I think … what the vice president meant to say was the same thing that again, many members have said in the last few days, that is, if you feel sick, if you are exhibiting flu-like symptoms — coughing, sneezing, runny nose — that you should take precautions, that you should limit your travel.”
The entire press room broke out in laughter because the explanation given was such a far reach from what Biden actually stated.
Today, Joe Biden is disagreeing with virtually every health expert that has backed the closing down of travel to slow down the spread of the coronavirus.
He is doing this simply because he wants to paint Trump as a xenophobe rather than putting the welfare of Americans first.
Yet, this is the presumptive nominee for the Democrat party and the overwhelming favorite by Democrat voters… a man that is liar and hypocrite as well as being a man that is willing to say anything to get a headline, even if it would put the health of the American people at risk, create and panic, and/or possibly have them completely disregard advice by the leading experts in their respective health care fields.
