Justice Department Refusing to Prosecute Comey After IG Referral

The Inspector General’s office has reportedly referred James Comey’s case to the Justice Department for prosecution.

However, according to numerous reports, the Justice Department is declining to prosecute, letting Comey off the hook.

Case Not Winnable

The news of Comey being given a free pass is already blowing up the internet, as Trump supporters want answers as to why this man is being given a free pass.

While the Justice Department has yet to speak on the subject, several anonymous sources have stated the DOJ simply did not think the case was winnable.

An unnamed source stated, “Everyone at the DOJ involved in the decision said it wasn’t a close call.

“They all thought this could not be prosecuted.”

The Case

Comey was being investigated for leaking private memos regarding Donald Trump.

One of the reasons the DOJ reportedly thought the case was unwinnable was because the memos had been marked “confidential” AFTER Comey had leaked them.

On leaking the memo, Comey testified, “I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter—I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.

“I was worried that the media was camping at the end of my driveway, my wife and I were going away.

“I was worried it would be like feeding seagulls at the beach if it was I who gave it to the media, so I asked my friend to.”

Inspector General Horowitz has not yet released his report on the referral, but that is supposed to be coming out very soon.

Not in the Clear Yet

While Comey is off the hook for the memo, the report that is due out will reportedly have some harsh words regarding Comey’s conduct.

While that will tarnish his self-professed boy scout image, it will not serve to satisfy those of us that want to see him brought to justice.

Take solace in the fact this is not the only investigation of which Comey is a subject.

While he may have dodged this bullet, the investigations into the FISA warrants may prove to be a different outcome altogether for Comey.

Comey’s signature is on three of the four FISA warrants used during the investigation into collusion with Russia.

Comey is also part of the investigation being conducted by John Dunham regarding the origins of the investigation.

So, while we may not get justice here, Comey’s legal troubles are far from over.
