It did not take long for the angry horde to go after New York Times columnist Bret Stephens after he hammered Democrats for encouraging illegal immigration.
Not long after his piece was published on Friday, Stephens was berated on social media as well as by his fellow journalists as being a “full on bigot.”
The Column
Before getting into his actual column, it is worth noting Stephens is a conservative, but he is a Never-Trump conservative.
About 99.9 percent of what he has written about Donald Trump has been anti-Trump.
So, the fact liberals and Democrats are attacking proves they will simply go after anyone and everyone that even approaches the line of agreeing with Trump.
In his column, Stephens wrote…
“They speak Spanish. We don’t.
“They are not U.S. citizens or legal residents. We are.
“They broke the rules to get into this country. We didn’t.
“They pay few or no taxes. We already pay most of those taxes.
“They willingly got themselves into debt. We’re asked to write it off.
“They don’t pay the premiums for private health insurance. We’re supposed to give up ours in exchange for some V.A.-type nightmare.
“They didn’t start enterprises that create employment and drive innovation. We’re expected to join the candidates in demonizing the job-creators, breaking up their businesses and taxing them to the hilt.”
Immediate Backlash
In addition to that passage from the column, Stephens blasted candidates like Beto O’Rourke who go out of their way to pander to illegals by speaking Spanish during events and debates.

He was also criticized rather strongly by one of his fellow journalists at the New York Times.
Wajahat Ali wrote, “Some of us work very hard to try to become columnists at prestigious papers.
“Some of us, especially women & people of color, are very talented, don’t put out racist content or write about the ‘disease of the Arab mind’ but we’ll never get the chance.
“Then there’s Bret Stephens…”
“I for one appreciate Bret Stephens piece on ‘ordinary’ Americans.
“He says out loud all their fears and ‘economic’ anxieties that people of color have called out forever. No subtlety.
“Now I hope our white allies will stop calling us crazy and angry and hysterical.”
Stephens did not back down, however, and stated his critics “unwittingly demonstrate a style of moral bullying and progressive demagoguery that turns people off and plays into Trump’s hands.”
He also added, “In case you missed my last 1000 columns or so, I want nothing more than for Trump to lose.
“But right now I’d bet he’s going to win because the left is driving away the voters Democrats need to win.”
This further proves that most of the major media and Democrats are simply not concerned with the welfare of the average American citizen.
Make no mistake about, average America is the population that will be most impacted by decriminalizing illegal immigration.
Those are the jobs that will be lost and those Americans are where higher taxes will have a far more significant impact.
