New York Veterans and Local Board Members Slam AOC

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has been making a lot of headlines, but not exactly for the reasons her constituents were hoping.

According to two local veterans who walked out of a recent meeting with AOC, she cares more about knocking President Trump than she does about taking care of the people she actually represents.

She’s Neglecting Us

Silvio Mazzella is the current treasurer of the Bronx Community Board 11.

He made headlines last month for walking out of a May 29 meeting attended by AOC.

Even though AOC had been in office since January, Mazzella stated it was the first time his congresswoman had actually attended a meeting.

Mazzella and his board had reached out to AOC in February.

Three months later, she finally stopped by to listen to their concerns.

The Vietnam veteran was not impressed with the young politician at all.

He stated, “We called her back in February about a postal problem and she never addressed it.

“She showed up at the meeting and said, ‘I’ll look into it.’”

Another member of the board, Anthony Vitaliano, who is also a veteran as well as a former NYPD officer, was also less than impressed by the 29-year-old congresswoman.

Vitaliano stated, “She was supposed to get there at 5 but didn’t get there until 5:23.

“She wants to be an international person rather than a local congresswoman.

“I think she neglects the local issues.

“I care about my community, she cares more about beating up on Trump and the Republicans than the community.”

Leaving in Protest

Mazzello and Vitaliano were so frustrated by AOC at their meeting, they stated they just got up and walked out.

When news of their walkout started to circulate, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s office accused the men of lying, stating, “The only person that left the meeting while it was underway was someone who had to go pick up their children.”

That version of the story, however, was later debunked by the Chairman of the Bronx Community Board 11, Albert D’Angelo, who confirmed both Mazzello and Vitaliano left while the meeting was still underway.

AOC’s office has yet to comment on the chairman backing up the story of the two veterans.
