NFL Salary Cap Will Take $18 Million Hit in 2021

NFL players are about to get hit with the hard reality of sports during a pandemic.

For years, decades even, they have watched the salary cap soar with every passing year.

That will not be the case in 2021.

Owners took it on the chin in 2020, mostly playing in empty stadiums, literally losing tens of millions of dollars compared to a normal season game.

The loss of income has now trickled down to the player level, with a significant cut of more than $18 million to the existing salary cap.

All those players that played hardball last year, Dak Prescott comes to mind, may find the money that was sitting on the table last year is not even close to the contract offer that will be there this time around.

Waters remain muddy on this front due to the uncertainty of what restrictions will still be in place come next fall.

At the rate we are going, it is hard to imagine stadiums being permitted to open to full capacity by the time the 2021 season kicks off.

This does not exactly upset me, as it is about time these spoiled athletes feel the pain of the people that pay their salaries by packing the stands every week.

Welcome to the real world!
