NFL to Allow Decals of ‘Victims’ of Police Violence on Helmets

An ESPN report that surfaced on Tuesday really struck a nerve with me.

The report stated that the NFL has decided to allow players to put decals on their helmets to “honor” alleged police brutality and system racism.

But What About…

Growing up, the Dallas Cowboys were a huge part of my life.

This was not easy, because I grew up on the east coast in Philadelphia.

Try being a kid in Philly that goes around wearing Cowboys gear… it is not easy.

When the new stadium was built and I moved out west, I was finally able to get season tickets after having been on the waitlist for as long as I can remember.

In recent years, my love of the game has faded and I barely watch the games anymore.

While I would still watch or attend Cowboys games, that was pretty much about it.

I am not a fan of encouraging people to boycott anything, but when the game got politicized, and the anthem kneeling started, I started to lose interest.

When the Cowboys requested to have stickers on their helmets for the fallen Dallas officers during the terror attack downtown, the NFL refused.

This upset me but I understood the decision. The NFL has a policy in place and they followed it.

It would have been a nice gesture, but again, I got it.

Today, though, that rule has changed due to pressure from BLM and liberals and now players are going to be able to put decals on their helmets to represent alleged victims of the police.

This infuriated me because of the NFL’s previous position and the overall fact that I don’t want politics of any kind in my sports.

If athletes want to stand up for a cause, by all means, let them. That is what freedom of speech is all about, just not during the games.

As everyday Americans, we are not allowed to wear or say anything political in nature in most offices and/or workplaces, especially if you are a conservative, that is just how it is.

So, why are the rules bent for liberals and why must we as fans now have politics rammed down our throats during the three or four hours most of us use to just check out from everyday life and enjoy ourselves?

I can’t say that I will boycott the NFL forever, because things change rather quickly and at some point, this climate may ease.

However, this season, in this climate, I can say that I will not watch or attend games, nor will I purchase any products related to the NFL and/or Dallas Cowboys.

If the season goes as planned, my tickets will be sold, because I have no desire to go to a game to see the spectacle or turn into a YouTube video for some whacked out liberal that decides to protest games or put conservatives on the spot about supporting the Black Lives Matter organization.

I went to games to enjoy myself, not get upset or be put in a defensive or uncomfortable position. There is plenty of time in the day for that. These games were my solace, but that has all been taken away.

I am not doing this to lead some movement; this is a personal choice that I am making because I won’t have these issues force-fed to me (and for the record, I would not expect a liberal to want conservative issues forced on them during sporting events either).

It will be a very long fall and winter without football, but that void will get filled. I simply just cannot support a game, team, or league that forces a liberal message while at the same time ostracizing conservatives and their opinions at every opportunity.

For now, goodbye NFL and goodbye Cowboys.
