Nike Pulls ‘Betsy Ross’ Flag Sneakers Because Colin Kaepernick is Offended

Nike had released a special edition sneaker to celebrate Independence Day this year featuring the Betsy Ross Flag.

Colin Kaepernick told them it was an offensive symbol, so the sneaker giant is now pulling the entire line of shoes off shelves throughout the country.

The Betsy Ross Flag

The Betsy Ross Flag is one of the most iconic symbols of our country.

A portion of that flag is even featured in our logo.

The 13 stars in a circle represent the original colonies and have been incorporated into the logo of dozens of patriotic groups.

That symbol, however, became associated with racism after students at a Michigan high school waved the Betsy Ross Flag during a football game simply because most of the student body is white.

The superintendent of the school actually issued a public apology for the actions of his students after it happened.

It’s Offensive

The sneaker giant designed the new Air Max line to show its patriotism during the summer season, specifically targeting Independence Day.

This line probably would have been a huge hit among conservatives, but we will never know.

After Colin Kaepernick saw the sneaker line, he deemed the sneakers to be offensive, so Nike immediately recalled the sneaker line from outlets around the country and will no longer sell the shoe.

Nike stated, “Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured an old version of the American flag.”

Instant Pushback

To call the Betsy Ross Flag a symbol of racism is about as idiotic as it gets.

Needless to say, this is not sitting well with conservative around the country.

Earlier this morning, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey said he was going to pull incentives for a Nike manufacturing plant to be built in his state.

Gov. Ducey stated, “Words cannot express my disappointment at this terrible decision. I am embarrassed for Nike.

“Nike is an iconic American brand and American company.

“This country, our system of government and free enterprise have allowed them to prosper and flourish.

“Instead of celebrating American history the week of our nation’s independence, Nike has apparently decided that Betsy Ross is unworthy, and has bowed to the current onslaught of political correctness and historical revisionism.

“It is a shameful retreat for the company. American businesses should be proud of our country’s history, not abandoning it.

“Nike has made its decision, and now we’re making ours.

“I’ve ordered the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw all financial incentive dollars under their discretion that the State was providing for the company to locate here.

“Arizona’s economy is doing just fine without Nike.

“We don’t need to suck up to companies that consciously denigrate our nation’s history.

“And finally, it shouldn’t take a controversy over a shoe for our kids to know who Betsy Ross is. A founding mother.

“Her story should be taught in all American schools. In the meantime, it’s worth googling her.”

All Nike just did was lose millions of customers because you better believe it will be a cold day in hell before most of us will ever buy a Nike product again. #BoycottNike
