The proposals of freshman Democrats in the House are so outlandish even former President Obama is now telling them to back off.
With many of the newcomers proposing unrealistic legislation, and presidential hopefuls latching on to it, Obama wants them all to back off a bit.
The former president suggested they find a way to fund their ideas before taking them public.
Taxation Not Always the Answer
The new breed of Democrats believes raising taxes will solve all their problems.
They want to cut any tax breaks we are now getting as well as raise the taxes on the richest in the country to ridiculous levels.
Seriously, would anyone be willing to accept a 70 percent tax bracket?
Americans despise taxes, even when they are not the ones paying them.
There is just something inherently wrong with giving the government more than you take home.
Think It Through
While Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) is pitching the freebies to anyone that will listen and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is pitching her Green New Deal, there is no realistic way to pay for the proposals they are putting on the table.
Obama did not want to discourage them from coming up with new ideas, he just thinks it is better to have an actual plan in place that proves these freebies can be paid for before you present them to the citizens of this country.
Barack Obama also warned them of the dangers of getting out of touch with their constituents.
This may have been a comment aimed specifically at Ocasio-Cortez, who up until a few weeks ago did not have a home office or even a local phone number for her district members to call.
The former president must see the chaos that is taking over the party right now, especially after the Mueller decision wrecked the narrative the party has been pitching the last two years.
This must have been his way of trying to get the party back on track for the 2020 election, but it more than likely fell on mostly deaf ears.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) is already on record offering some rather harsh criticisms of President Obama, so it is unlikely she will take his advice seriously.
And, to this point, nobody has been able to rein in Rep. Ocasio-Cortez.
So, all he can do is watch his party burn out of control like a wildfire into the 2020 election season.
