Once again, the words coming out of the mouth of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) have justified the actions taken by Israel to block her entry into the country.
On Monday, Omar held a press conference to support Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich), who was also declined entry.
During the press conference, she took shot after shot at Israel, condemning the country as well as continuing to push her pro-Palestinian agenda.
Bashing Israel
During the press conference, Omar made it sound as though the aid sent to Israel was now at risk because her group was being denied entry into the country.
She stated, “We in the United States have a constructive role to play.
“We give Israel more than $3 billion in aid every year.
“This is predicated on them being an important ally in the region and the only democracy in the Middle East.
“But, denying a visit to duly elected members of Congress is not consistent with being an ally.”
She later added, “The decision to ban me and my colleague, the first two Muslim-American women elected to Congress, is nothing less than an attempt by an ally of the United States to suppress our ability to do our jobs as elected officials.”
She, of course, says nothing about the fact she has supported a movement that would all but nullify the existence of Israel as we know it today.
Tear-jerker Moment
Tlaib also took the microphone during the press conference, trying to come off as a hurt little puppy dog.
While “trying” to hold back tears, Tlaib stated, “As a young girl visiting Palestine to see my grandparents and extended family, I watched as my mother had to go through dehumanizing checkpoints – even though she was a United States citizen and a proud American,”
“She said I’m her dream manifested.
“I’m her free bird so why would I come back and be caged and bow down?”
The White House was clearly not going to let the statements by these two go unanswered.
Hogan Gidley, a White House spokesman stated, “Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar have a well-documented history of anti-Semitic comments, anti-Semitic social media posts, and anti-Semitic relationships.
“Israel has the right to prevent people who want to destroy it from entering the country – and Democrats’ pointless congressional inquiries here in America cannot change the laws Israel has passed to protect itself.”
New York Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin defended Israel, stating, “Israel has a law that is on the books that allows them to prevent anyone to visit their country that seeks to harm their country.
“It would be wrong to be criticizing Israeli Prime Minister to the United States for his role in this because they don’t want to have people traveling to their country that want to harm it.”
This entire visit was nothing more than a PR stunt being orchestrated by Omar and Tlaib and was really a win/win situation for them.
If they are denied entry, they get to openly rail against Israel and the Trump administration.
If their trip was permitted, they would have been able to trash Israel on its own soil.
Let’s not overlook the fact the trip itself was being organized by a Palestinian group whose focus is the plight of the Palestinians.
This trip was not about learning more about Israel or doing her job in Congress.
This trip was about finding another way to insult Israel and push a pro-Palestinian agenda and nothing more.
