Pelosi Finally Makes Effort to Rein in AOC

Is Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) finally getting sick and tired of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stealing all her thunder?

During a recent interview with USA Today, Pelosi took a veiled shot at the freshman congresswoman, stating, “While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what’s important is that we have large numbers of votes on the floor of the House.”

It’s Getting Old

AOC, by far, has the largest social media following of anyone in Congress.

With roughly four million followers on Twitter alone, she has a rather wide audience when she starts posting about the horrors of the country.

Unfortunately for Pelosi, sometimes AOC’s tweets and posts also take aim at the establishment in the Democrat party.

While Pelosi did not name AOC specifically, it was quite clear to everyone that is exactly who she was referring to in her comments.

A Cracking Foundation

This is now the second time that Pelosi has thrown a little shade on the AOC publicity machine.

The first attempt to rein in Ocasio-Cortez came after the introduction of the Green New Deal.

Pelosi was among the old-guard that did not think the legislation ever had a chance of gaining approval, even in the Democrat-dominated House.

At that time, Pelosi had stated, “It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive.

“The green dream, or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it, right?”

In addition to Pelosi, Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) opposed the proposal.

Feinstein was actually caught in an embarrassing video dressing down a group of elementary school children over the Green New Deal and their support of it.

Even President Obama has chimed in to advise the newcomers that before they make a proposal, make sure you have a way to pay for it.

In the case of the Green New Deal, its implementation is estimated at $93 trillion, or roughly $600,000 per U.S. household, not exactly realistic.
