Report: CT Gov. Lamont Lied About Newborn Death ‘Linked’ to COVID-19

On April 1, Connecticut Democrat Governor Ned Lamont reported the first infant death “linked” to the coronavirus had occurred in his state.

The victim was a six-week-old infant that postmortem had tested positive for the CV-19 virus.

The claim that this child’s death was “linked” to COVID-19, however, according to well-known conservative Candace Owens, is an outright lie.

The Claim

Governor Lamont first broke this tragic news on April 1 with a series of tweets…

Even at the time of Gov. Lamont’s claim, though, the local medical examiner was hesitant to confirm this report.

Here is a statement from the ME at the time of the child’s death from Chief State Medical Examiner James Gill.

“The infant did test positive for the COVID-19 virus and an autopsy was done at the [Office of the Chief Medical Examiner]. At the current time, we have not issued a final cause of death. There are numerous tests that we must do on infant deaths before issuing a final cause of death.”

We are now five days later, and as of this writing, no final report has been issued for an official cause of death.

There may be a reason for that, and Candace Owens was the one to bring it to light.

Owens is claiming that due to personal interests in the area, she investigated this death on her own.

Two of her sisters live in this area and recently had children, so she was particularly concerned about their welfare.

Owens claims some people very close to the family reached out to her to bring to light the fact the child’s death was accidental and had nothing at all to do with the coronavirus.

She stated, “The death of the infant in Connecticut had nothing to do with COVID-19. I know exactly how the infant died.

“I know this because people that were involved were mortified and angry, and they were so happy that I spoke out and called out this double-speak.

“These people reached out to me, not the mother and the father.”

She continued, “Postmortem, after this infant had already succumbed, they tested this infant for COVID-19. God knows why.

“Because as I have been trying to shout to you all, it does not matter how you die, they will test you for COVID-19.

“Then, they will use the exact same language that Ned Lamont used: ‘a death linked to COVID-19,’ knowing fully well that the manner in which that infant died had nothing to do with coronavirus.”

In the first press conference Lamont held after he had linked the child’s death to COVID-19, he shied away from answering the question directly.

When he sent the question over to Dr. Matthew Carter, Carter would only confirm the child had tested positive, NOT that this was the cause of death.

That is far from the claim made by Lamont that you saw above in his tweets.

Furthermore, Dr. Carter continuously sidesteps the actual question about why this child’s death was linked to the virus in the first place. It’s despicable.

If Owens’ report is true and this was an in-home tragedy, Lamont must be forced to step down immediately.

There is also the fact he needlessly created stress for mothers of newborn children as well as those currently pregnant, adding significant stress to women that are already under considerable stress being pregnant in this type of environment.

This was blatant fear-mongering and absolutely despicable that he chose to use this child’s death to push a Democrat narrative. It’s sickening that this is the direction elected officials are going simply to discredit a president they despise.

This brings to light another concern. If this is how coronavirus deaths are being classified, who many of the now 10,000+ deaths that have occurred are actually due to the coronavirus? Are officials simply attributing the death of anyone that tests positive postmortem to the COVID-19 outbreak?

These are the questions the media needs to be asking and they need to start asking them NOW!
