If there is one thing I despise about politicians, it is how they find ways to funnel campaign funds to family and friends to make them rich.
This happens on both sides of the aisle and it is about time Americans realize how rampant this is and start calling out these corrupt politicians for doing it.
If you read SPN regularly, you know I have been after Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) on this front for years.
Since the early days of her political career, she has been funneling money to her daughter via slate mailers, which are flyers showing recommended voting choices.
During the 2019-20 campaign cycle, Waters paid her daughter a reported $240,000 for this service.
Her daughter has literally made millions over Maxine Waters’ political career putting together a flyer, which is really a payoff for Waters’ endorsement and a way to make her daughter rich.
Ilhan Omar is no better, having paid her now-husband millions in consulting services since she first entered her hat into the ring.
While she recently severed ties to his business, it was reported that she did manage to cut him one last check for about $138,000 as a final payment, part of what is almost $3 million that has been paid to his “consulting” firm throughout her political career.
I would love to see those records audited to find out how many hotel rooms and fancy dinners were paid for out of those “consulting” fees when her now-husband was married and they were running around behind his wife’s back.
