Romney Sends Threatening Warning to Trump

Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) has once again proved he is no friend to conservatives and he surely is no friend to President Trump.

After House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called for an oversight commission for coronavirus stimulus spending, Senator Romney decided to pile it on by releasing a letter with Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) to warn Trump to comply with all oversight efforts.

More Redundancy

Pelosi’s call for oversight was just more grandstanding by Democrats.

Within the legislation, oversight was already called for to ensure spending would not be abused.

Furthermore, to this point, there is no reason to even suspect there was anything has been hokey to even call for additional oversight.

This is about Dems wanting to give the appearance of wrongdoing even though there has not been any wrongdoing.

Piling It On

Romney, not one to lose out an opportunity to take a shot at Trump, partnered up with Tester to threaten Trump to cooperate with any oversight.

At this point, it is almost as though Democrats know that if they want to tout anything as “bipartisan,” all they need to do is dial-up Romney and he will be there to add his signature to it.

The letter sent by Romney and Tester echoed points made by Pelosi when she called for her oversight committee.

It stated, “With trillions of taxpayer dollars being spent, it is critically important for the Administration to ensure full transparency and willingness for independent oversight.”

It further stated, “As you work to implement COVID-19 legislation, we ask that you provide Congress a detailed plan on how the government plans to execute these funds and what accountability measures are being put in place to ensure our taxpayer dollars are being spent efficiently and effectively.”

With three separate branches of oversight built into the legislation already, a special inspector general, a congressional oversight committee and a panel of inspectors general known as the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC), there is simply no reason for these additional oversight committees and threats by the likes of Romney.

It does, however, prove that Romney plans on being a thorn in the side of Trump for the remainder of his first, and likely only, term as one of Utah’s senators.
