Rumble in Iowa: Tempers Flare Hours Before Candidates Take Debate Stage

Well, tonight’s debate may just be worth watching after all.

After lulling the country into a coma during previous debates, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders’ campaigns have erupted into an all-out feud only hours before the candidates are scheduled to take the stage in Iowa tonight.

A Lot On the Line

This is the final debate before the Iowa caucus takes place in a few weeks.

Point being, it may be the last chance these candidates have to reach voters before they head to the booth.

History tells us that anyone that struggles coming out of these early states can kiss their chances goodbye, so Warren is doing everything in her power to keep her name relevant.

About That Pact…

Prior to the election, Warren and Sanders reportedly met to ensure their progressive agenda would be put before any mudslinging.

That meeting, now, however, is the point of contention for the Warren camp.

Leaks hit the media late last night that Sanders made some sexist comments about a woman not being able to win this election when he met with Warren.

When Warren was asked about the meeting, she confirmed the leaked account that was given to the media.

Sanders immediately defended himself, calling the accusations being made by the Warren camp “ludicrous.”

Faiz Shakir, Bernie Sanders’ campaign manager, stated, “It is a lie.”

Sanders also got support from current and former candidates, with both Kamala Harris and Tulsi Gabbard defending Sanders and implying that Warren was being less than truthful in her statements.

There were also rumors that Bernie’s people were portraying Warren as the candidate for the rich and elite Democrats, not the progressive she is pretending to be.

The script that was allegedly given to Sanders’ campaign staff stated, “People who support her are highly educated, more affluent people who are going to show up and vote Democrat no matter what.”

The script further challenged that Warren brings “no new bases into the Democrat party.”

When word of this got out, Warren immediately stated, “I was disappointed to hear that Bernie is sending his volunteers out to trash me.

“Bernie knows me and has known me for a long time.

“He knows who I am, where I come from, what I have worked on and fought for.”

For the record, Warren’s current estimated net worth is about $12 million, so you can be the judge of that last statement.

This is all going to play out tonight on stage as the moderators are not going to have any choice but to bring it front and center.

So, between Sanders and Warren spewing rhetoric about Trump being a racist, they are both going to have to defend their positions and my guess is that only one of them comes out of this debate still a viable possibility for the nomination.

The safe money is on Bernie because Warren’s past gives us little faith she is actually telling the truth here.
