Politicizing Intelligence
It is really quite ironic that Schiff is accusing Trump of doing what he and his fellow Democrats are doing with the Mueller report.
At the heart of Schiff’s request lies the accusation that Trump is politicizing the intelligence community.
In effect, weaponizing this information for political gain.
What Trump is really doing, however, is offering transparency on how we got into the situation we find ourselves in today.
Schiff also appears to be making the assumption that Barr will release the information as is, without any redactions at all.
Barr used to work for the CIA and he knows how important it is to protect sources and methods, so it is unlikely he would release anything to the public that would put anyone at risk.
Why is Schiff so worried about the American people finding out what led to an investigation that took two years to conduct and spent more than $25 million of taxpayer money?
If there was nothing to fear, he would actually welcome this information being made public.
We Want Accountability
There have been so many accusations being thrown around regarding the origins of the investigation, the American people have a right to know the truth.
The one glaring question that remains unanswered is just how influential the Steele dossier was in this investigation.
This is important because the dossier has for all intents and purposes been debunked.
However, it is also believed the dossier was a key piece of evidence used to move forward with the probe as well as multiple FISA warrants.
Even if the investigation was justified, were certain rules bent to make an even more compelling case?
Based on how much finger pointing is going on right now between the former heads of our intelligence communities, I would have to say the perception is that something is hokey.
We just want to learn the truth, yet Schiff is doing everything he can to prevent us from learning it.
