Today’s political climate is poisonous, yet nobody seems to want to talk about the real reason why this is so.
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), before the legislation is ever written, is already calling on Senate Democrat to oppose any GOP legislation that is put on the floor.
They Want the Glory
The elected officials in this country have long ago decided that working for the people of this country is no longer the most important thing.
In today’s political climate, it is all about getting all the credit and nothing more.
Republicans would love to work with Democrats on legislation, but Dems don’t want to come to the table.
What they do want is to craft their own legislation then try to ram it through for Trump’s signature.
Throughout this crisis, we have seen the House draft its dream bill and immediately pass it with no Republican input or support, then cry foul in the media when the Senate does not even put it on the floor.
In all honesty, Phase 4 legislation should have already been written for the most part, but our elected officials refuse to talk to each other and the climate on the Hill is only getting worse.
The funny thing is that Schumer is now talking out of both sides of his mouth, giving speeches about bipartisan legislation while supporting House legislation that has received no input from Republicans.
Compare that to Senator McConnell (R-KY) who recently stated, “We can’t pass the bill in the Senate without the Democrats and we’re going to talk to them as well.”
