Second House Committee Chairman Demands Impeachment

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has officially lost control of her party.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) appears to be taking over, as he now has another powerful House committee chairman on his side railing for impeachment.

The Tipping Point

It would now appear as though the Democrat party has officially tipped the scales in favor of impeaching Trump.

Latest estimates are that more than 100 Democrats are buying into the narrative that Trump is guilty of collusion and obstruction of justice.

The latest name to be added to the list is a big one.

Rep. Eliot Engel, another New York Democrat, who also happens to be the House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, released an official statement on Tuesday night calling for Trump to be impeached.

While releasing his formal impeachment request inquiry on Twitter, Engel stated, “The American people want, and deserve the truth.

“I believe the House must pursue a formal impeachment inquiry.”

Engel’s request comes on the heels of Rep. Jerry Nadler announcing he was conducting an official “impeachment investigation,” which included a request sent to a federal judge to unseal grand jury testimony taken during the Mueller investigation.

Fighting Off Nadler

Republicans have come to the immediate defense of Trump.

As usual, on the front line of the defense was Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA).

Collins stated, “Chairman Nadler’s legal action here is sure to fail, weakening Congress’s ability to conduct oversight now and into the future.

“If my colleagues want grand jury information, they should propose legislation allowing Congress to access it.

“Democrats want to convince their base they’re still wedded to impeachment even after [last week’s] hearing, but a baseless legal claim is an odd way to show that.”

While all this is going on, Pelosi has tried to play the peacemaker, reportedly telling Democrats behind closed doors to back off the impeachment narrative.

Obviously, her plea fell on deaf ears with Nadler, because he simply cannot let this go.

All the while, the entire country is being held hostage, as Democrats refuse to work with Trump for any meaningful legislation to address the border issue.

Now, they are headed out for summer recess, which means nothing meaningful will be accomplished until at least late September or early October.
