Second SQUAD Member Guilty of Campaign Finance Violations

Three Squad members have now been investigated on various campaign finance laws.

Two of them have already been found guilty.

The latest ethics violation was by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who has been ordered to pay back $10,800 to her campaign.

Another Guilty Squad Member

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has several strikes against her and now Tlaib joins her in charges of corruption.

On Friday, the Ethics Committee found that the freshman congresswoman violated FECA restrictions on personal use of campaign funds.

As such, she has been ordered to pay back the $10,800 she used rather freely after her campaign was already over.

She has one year to repay the funds.

The committee “determined that the evidence is sufficient to support a determination that a portion of the salary payments that Representative Tlaib received after the 2018 general election was inconsistent with the requirements outlined by [FECA] and its implementing regulations.

“The Committee also recognizes, however, that Representative Tlaib’s violation of the applicable restrictions was one of bad timing and not ill intent.

“Representative Tlaib engaged in good faith efforts to comply with the relevant FECA requirements.”
