Pelosi’s support is quickly dwindling within her own party, which has never been more evident after the statement by one of the highest-ranked Democrats in office.
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) is now warning Pelosi that holding the articles makes no sense… send them now or forget about the impeachment.
No More Leverage Ploys
From the very beginning, Pelosi has been using the delay of transmission as a leverage ploy against Senator McConnell (R-KY).
McConnell put Pelosi on notice last week by saying that if he did not have the impeachment articles on his desk this week, the impeachment would be put on the backburner.
Pelosi still held firm, but then came the statement for Senator Feinstein.
Feinstein stated, “If we’re going to do it, she should send them over.
“I don’t see what good delay does.”
Feinstein continued to run her mouth in the media, with her words getting stronger and stronger with each statement.
She recently criticized the touted urgency of the impeachment due to the fact the articles have been held for so long, really hurting Pelosi’s integrity.
This, of course, led to other Democrats voicing their dismay over the fact the articles have yet to be sent over to the Senate.
Pelosi finally seemed to cave on Friday, stating that she is going to hold a meeting with Rep. Nadler (D-N.Y.) to discuss the transmission and appointment of House managers for the impeachment.
We still kind of get the feeling Pelosi is losing confidence in the move to impeach Trump.
She seems to be holding onto the look of the impeachment rather than whether or not it was legitimate.
This weekend, she made a statement that no matter what happens in the Senate, Trump has been “impeached for life.”
She sounds like a petulant child that knows she broke the rules but wants to try to justify her actions.
Adding to the problems for Democrats is that after issuing a War Powers Resolution in the House against Trump for his strike against Soleimani, Trump’s approval rating shot up even further.
Clearly, the people of this country are with every move Trump is making right now, even though Democrats are fighting him every step of the way.
