Top GOP Congressman Open to Impeaching Trump

The situation in the House for President Trump is beginning to become quite dire.

Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL) has called Trump’s Ukraine phone call “quite troubling” and stated he is now open to impeaching Trump.

Quid Pro Quo

The problem with this entire narrative is that the media and our elected representatives are painting a picture the investigation Trump was asking for was a political favor.

To be clear, Trump asked Ukraine to investigate a situation that represented political corruption in our country.

Because Joe Biden is a presidential candidate, everyone is calling this a political favor, but that is not the case.

Furthermore, they are insisting Trump withheld aid to Ukraine specifically to get the country to honor Trump’s request, but that was not the case either.

Ukraine has not looked into the case, at least not yet, but they do have their money.

They also act as though this type of thing never happens in the political world but we all know Joe Biden held back aid to force a prosecutor to be fired.

Even so, Rooney seems to be buying into the narrative Democrats are pushing.

He stated, “I want to hear what Ambassador (Bill) Taylor has to say Tuesday, and I’m hoping to have a chance to hear Ambassador (John) Bolton before any of that would happen because what I’ve heard so far is quite troubling.”

Making Matters Worse

Something that is also feeding this fire is the fact acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney seemed to misspeak during a recent press conference, all but admitting Trump put quid pro quo in play for the aid money.

Mulvaney had since tried to walk back some of his comments, believing he was misunderstood in the points he was making, but the media and Democrats have already latched onto his statements and are now considering it a slam dunk to impeach Trump on this particular issue.

While Rooney is not running for re-election, it is still a major problem that is falling in line with Democrats because he hails from Florida, a state Trump will need to win if he is going to be re-elected.

His campaign can ill-afford to have Rooney casting doubt in the minds of voters on this issue this close the election.

Margins were already tight, with Trump only winning Florida by a little more than 100,000 votes.

Having local representatives bailing on the administration and/or siding with Democrats could lead to a massive upset in the state, putting Democrats back in the White House.
