Trump Blacklists U.K. Ambassador

On Monday, the buzz around D.C. centered around the email chain from UK Ambassador Sir Kim Darroch that called Trump “inept,” among other things.

Trump finally responded to the emails on Monday and stated, “We will no longer deal with him.”

The relationship between the U.S. and the United Kingdom had been tepid at best since the BREXIT movement.

Then-candidate Trump was very much in support of the movement even though the sitting UK government and its allies were hoping to defeat BREXIT.

More recently, Trump has been dropping the hammer on existing trade deals with the UK, hoping to get much better terms than the current deals in place.

To say this has presented problems for the UK would be a bit of an understatement.

Taking all of that into consideration, it was no real surprise to see that Sir Kim did not really think much of Trump.

However, putting it in writing and then having those memos leaked publicly, well, that was just a bit too much for Trump to take.

Trump notified the UK by Twitter that things are about to change.

He tweeted, “I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit.

“What a mess she and her representatives have created.

“I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way.

“I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the US.”

“We will no longer deal with him.

“The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister.

“While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!”

To this point, British officials have defended Sir Kim and actually applauded him for putting his honest thoughts down on paper to share with British leadership.

However, they have also been in damage control all weekend trying to clean up this mess.

As of yet, there has been no replacement announced for Sir Kim, but Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt has stated there is an investigation underway to find the source of the leak.
