Joe Biden made the mistake of releasing his Iowa speech early, and he might as well have just put the ball on a tee for the President.
After Trump saw the speech, he absolutely lit up Biden, stating, “When a man has to mention my name 76 times in his speech, that means he’s in trouble.”
The Biden Message
Even though Biden’s lead has shrunk considerably in the last two weeks, he still holds an eight-point margin or better in most polls.
In the latest Quinnipiac poll, Biden once had close to a 20-point lead, but that has withered all the way down to 11 points.
So far in this campaign, Biden has yet to take aim at his fellow Democrats and who could blame him.
With that big of a lead, he knows he can go after Trump and act as though he has already won the nomination to score some early hits against Trump.
However, that will probably not go on much longer because Biden is clearly losing significant ground and the unspoken treaty the Dems have to play nicely will probably end once debate season opens up.
The Trump Message
For his part, Trump has been treating this election in much the same way.
Trump has mentioned some of the other candidates sparingly, but his focus on the campaign trail thus far has been predominantly Biden.
While on his way to Iowa for a rally, Trump stated, “I have to tell you, he’s a different guy.
“He looks different than he uses to, he acts different than he used to – he’s even slower than he used to be.
“Joe never got more than one percent except for when Obama took him off the trash heap.
“It looks like his friends from the left are going to overtake him soon.”
Trump is actually hoping Biden wins the race in the Democrat party because he is fairly confident when push comes to shove, he would destroy Biden.
Trump’s attacks against Biden have already caused him to change one stance in that Biden is now finally admitting China is a major competitor to the United States.
Biden has also been forced to change his position on the Hyde Amendment due to strong pressure from the far-left members of the party.
As this race progresses, expect Trump to really focus on some of the rather questionable events from Biden’s past as well as point to all the recent flip-flopping by Biden as he tries to pacify everyone.
Trust me, the fireworks between these two have not even started yet.
