One of the weapons Democrats are using against Trump has been the emoluments clause.
On Wednesday, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals handed President Trump a major victory on that front.
Big Win for Trump
Emoluments violations have been getting thrown around ever since Trump turned his company over to his children rather than place it is a blind trust.
In this particular case, the court stated that if anyone is getting hurt, it could be Trump.
The decision went on to say certain business interests may choose to now avoid using Trump’s property because it bears his name.
The court decision read: “There is a distinct possibility — which was completely ignored by the District and Maryland, as well as by the district court — that certain government officials might avoid patronizing the Hotel because of the President’s association with it.”
Trump’s attorney, Jay Sekulow, stated, “Today’s pair of decisions by the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals is a complete victory.
“The decision states that there was no legal standing to bring this lawsuit in the first place.
“This latest effort at Presidential harassment has been dismissed with prejudice.”
President Trump was clearly happy with the decision, tweeting, “Word just out that I won a big part of the Deep State and Democrat induced Witch Hunt.
“Unanimous decision in my favor from The United States Court of Appeals For The Fourth Circuit on the ridiculous Emoluments Case.
“I don’t make money, but lose a fortune for the honor of serving and doing a great job as your President (including accepting Zero salary!).”
The plaintiffs, however, were not so jubilant.
DC Attorney General Karl Racine and Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh stated they will “pursue our legal options to hold him accountable.”
They further stated, “The idea that the District of Columbia and Maryland are not harmed by the President’s violation of the Constitution is plain error.”
So, once again, we have liberals stomping their feet and promising more obstruction simply because they did not get their way.
It just proves once again the Democrats are using nothing more than smoke and mirrors to try to discredit this president.
