Trump, Staffers Accused of Violating Hatch Act

Liberals are once again going after President Trump and his staffers for allegedly violating the Hatch Act.

They are citing a recent planned speech by the President as well as some crafty hat placement on the part of Trump staffers.

The Hatch Act

This legislation was originally enacted in 1939 and has had several amendments over the years.

The main provision of the Act prohibits government workers in the executive branch from engaging in political activity (although the president and other high-level officials are exempt).

Several Trump staffers have been accused and disciplined for violating this act since Trump took office.

One of the violations was for Trump staffers using the #MAGA hashtag on Twitter.

Kellyanne Conway has been accused of violating the Act on numerous occasions for saying that Trump is making America great again while doing interviews.

That was deemed to be a violation because it was Trump’s campaign slogan.

Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah was also accused of violating the Hatch Act for a tweet with #Winning and a link to contribute to the RNC.

More Outrage

In recent days, there has been considerable pushback about Trump staffers being seen on TV with MAGA hats in the background.

Then, of course, there was Trump’s most recent speech in Louisiana.

The speech was a planned energy/economy speech by Trump, but the President went off on a few tangents that have created considerable outrage among liberals and Democrats.

The President is now being accused of campaigning on the dime of the American taxpayer.

The comments by Trump that created the outrage were related to his handicapping the Democrat field vying for the nod to run against him in the 2020 election.

President Trump pretty much went after everyone that will be on the primary ballot.

Trump also stated, “If we win this election – which is just 16 months away – we’re giving you a brand new I-10 bridge.

“We’ll have it all set to go day one, right after the election.”

This is something that Trump and his staffers will have to be VERY careful about moving forward, as he does not need to provide fodder for Democrats and liberals to attack him.
