It is no secret right now that Trump and McConnell are at odds.
The battle lines have been drawn, and Trump just made it a bit more interesting when his camp announced it will start formally screening candidates that want his endorsement.
This is likely to create quite an interesting 2022 primary season.
Battle Lines are Drawn
After McConnell’s scathing floor speech against Trump, the former president made his own speech, slamming McConnell.
Trump is now hoping to unseat incumbent Republicans that are not pushing his MAGA agenda.
Trump’s leadership PAC reportedly already has a $30 million war chest, but Trump just needs to figure out how he is going to spend it.
Since he has been banned from most social media platforms, a key part of his campaign strategy, Trump reportedly reached out to former campaign manager Brad Parscale to figure out the best plan of attack when it comes time to campaign for these candidates.
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), one of the few establishment Republicans that is still in good favor with Trump, is now terrified that this could lead to a major war within the party that will ultimately cost them more seats in Congress.
Graham stated, “I’m more worried about 2022 than I’ve ever been. I don’t want to eat our own.”
I am not sure how tall this will play out but it sure looks like we are in for one hell of a primary season!
