Trump Welcomes Hero Special Forces Dog ‘Conan’ at the White House

The hero of the Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi raid finally got his visit to the White House.

Conan, the Belgian Malinois military dog that was responsible for trapping al-Baghdadi and that was harmed during the raid, had his moment in the spotlight and got an official plaque from the President.

Honoring Conan

While some are mocking the president for doing this, animal lovers throughout the country are ecstatic, myself among them.

Some people consider these animals to be nothing more than another tool for the military to use, but their handlers and the troops look at them as one of their own.

These dogs save countless lives, as they are often the first man in to disarm and/or identify a threat, yet they receive little fanfare.

Ron Aiello, head of U.S. War Dogs Association and a retired Marine, stated, “They’re kind of the first line of defense.

“Their job is to detect any type of danger that’s out front.”

So, it was nice to see the symbolic gesture by Trump to honor Conan.

Trump stated, “Conan did a fantastic job and we’re very honored to have Conan here and to have given Conan a certificate and an award.

Vice President Mike Pence also chimed in, stating, “Having this extraordinary dog here today is all a reflection of our armed forces and the great job that they do.

“Conan is really a hero.

“It’s really a joy to be able to help welcome him here to the White House.”

Trump hinted that Conan seemed to know what was going on and based on the video, it would be hard to argue…

Conan seemed to be quite happy and truly enjoying himself.

Congratulations Conan!
