U.S. Attorney Durham Rips Inspector General Over FISA Report Conclusion

The IG report was released yesterday afternoon (I am still rooting through this and will have a breakdown of the report by Wednesday morning).

When the report was released, U.S. Attorney John Durham made an unexpected statement about the report, ripping the IG findings.

Low Threshold

Over the next couple of days, you are going to hear liberal outlets talk about the end conclusion and nothing else.

They will ignore all of the misdoings in the report, which are significant.

But, what you must understand is that the IG has a very low threshold for deciding whether or not an investigation was properly launched or not.

It is also important to understand the IG has no real legal authority in terms of going beyond the initial scope.

In other words, when he finds irregularities, he needs to refer them rather than investigate them on his own.

Having said that, it is still quite stunning he announced the conclusion that he did.

Calling Out the IG

I respect IG Horowitz, but at the same time, I think he is a coward.

I say this because he, like many others in our justice and political system, is afraid to hold leadership accountable.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can see there was a significant problem at the top of the food chain.

Instead, Horowitz put the blame in the underlings to allow people like Comey off the hook.

I can assure you, that will not be the case in my summary, nor will it be in Durham’s.

After the report was released, Durham stated, “Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened.”

He further stated, “I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff.

“However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department.

“Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.”

Barr also stated that he is leaning more in the direction of Durham than Horowitz on this.

AG Barr stated, “The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken.”

James Comey immediately went on the circuit to profess his innocence as well as trying to shame Trump, but his days are numbered, make no mistake about that.
